HOW MUCH HAIR DID YOU LOSE?

Few questions in life really make you think, don’t they?   I really couldn’t answer this question, a  friend asked me yesterday, while I was ranting about my recent unprecented hair loss.

Today as I stared at my bathroom floor in the shower the questioned popped up in my head again amongst other questions as to How much hair am I actually losing.  The doctor in me kicked in with a  couple of differential diagnosis as to “Why” I am losing hair. I must be low on biotin, zinc, collagen perhaps its Vit D deficiency. The sun hasn’t been out this winter and so have I.

“June don’t forget to put coconut oil for your hair at least twice a week”, my mom’s voice echoed from childhood. Or perhaps I am simply aging? Nope I didn’t want to go on that negative, never-ending spiral.      Or is it stress? But bottom line is I am not trying to figure the Why of hair loss but the How do I quantify hair loss?

One obvious way that was evident is to count the hair on the bathroom floor.  That would be an utter waste of time not that I have patience for it. Just looking at it was stressful enough. So, I stepped out and looked in the mirror at my scalp. Oh! This is where the dermatologist looks, l thought to quantify hair loss if its patchy universal to identify different hormonal patterns of balding.  But how does the dermatologist really know how thick my hair was before the visit with him?  Maybe one should take a before and after picture like the you tube experts show on hair loss?

As I was staring into the mirror worried,

That’s when the Lord reminded me of this scripture from Luke 12: 7 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.  So do not be afraid. Previously when I heard this verse, I had misunderstood it that God knows the number of hairs on my head but today reading it closely I realize each hair has a number and He knows it because he numbered it. Even though I myself didn’t want to count my fallen hair God knows that hair no 7, 21, 63,78, 202,648, 2006 and many more have fallen from my daughter’s head.  Wow! Why would he do that or care enough to know that? Just becoz… he loves and cares about you and me.  Just like you would detail a car God detailed every part of you and me and keeps a tab on it every single moment. We are made in His Image. You are mine I know you by name, He says.  The question is Do you care enough to know Him so well or at least well enough?

What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
