REMEMBER ME!

Tomorrow would be a new day, I told myself. A new month was almost here, and I hoped it would be better than February. That month had been hard, but March promised a fresh start. My small church in India, had a tradition of meeting at 5 a.m. on the first day of each month for prayer and worship, followed by a short message and a promise Word from God. Although it was hard to wake up early and make it to church on a workday, I was eager for it. The best part was always sharing in communion with fellow believers.

From a young age, I learned that communion was a sacred transaction between heaven and earth. God’s love for the world was so deep that He sent His Son to die for us, so that all who believe in Him would be saved from perishing and have eternal life. Communion was a reminder of that covenant, honoring the Creator who humbled Himself to be born in a manger to redeem us from sin. Jesus was the only way to the Father, and it was through His sacrifice on the cross. If there was a easier way, God the Father would not have let His son die naked on cross for you and me!

As I dragged myself out of bed at 4:30 a.m., my son came in and said, “Mom, I have a test today. Can you help me with a few things before the school bus comes?” How could I say no? My heart longed to be at church, but I chose to help him instead. After he left, I felt empty, knowing I’d missed the service.

Just then, the doorbell rang. I thought it was my son, but when I opened the door, I was surprised to see a priest. He explained that he usually brings communion to a sick woman in the building, but he’d come to the wrong apartment. I blurted out, “Pastor, I believe you’re not here by accident.” I shared my struggle, and the pastor kindly came in, listened, and prayed with me. We shared communion, remembering Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.

When you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him. The Lord saw my desire to partake in His sacrifice and arranged a miracle beyond my imagination. Even now, almost a decade later, my heart swells with joy, knowing that the Almighty God is mindful of His children and sees every thought that passes through our minds. The Bible says that God sees the heart of man, and on that beautiful day in March, He revealed His love to me—an unfailing, steadfast, and everlasting love that still pursues us, 2,000 years after He gave Himself as a living sacrifice on the cross. When He died, you were on His heart. Even if you were the only one He had to die for, He would have done it!

Luke 22:19

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

Matthew 26:26-28

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
